Jefferson Hills Council Approves Community Center
Feasibility Study
The Borough of Jefferson Hills, in conjunction with
the Jefferson Hills Recreational Initiative, has approved
a proposal to conduct a feasibility study to define
the parameters for development of a potential new
community recreational center.
This study will gauge community interest and solicit
feedback from residents as to what type and scale of
center the community could support. A number of
potential sites within the Borough will be reviewed, and a
preferred site could be selected for continued discussion
about development. The study will also identify the
program and scope of work for the proposed building, as
well as the cost of the building and its impact on Borough
finances.
“We are excited about this study and appreciative of
the Borough’s support behind us,” said Brian Konick of
the Jefferson Hills Recreational Board. “As our community
continues to grow, we continually hear from residents
60
WEST JEFFERSON HILLS
that we need more community recreational amenities. We
are excited to hear what the community has to say and
help us determine if this could become the signature
community amenity for decades to come.”
The study will commence in early-mid summer and
conclude by the end of the year. Please visit the Borough’s
website for more information about upcoming public
input meetings.
“We have the best Recreation Board we have ever
had.” added Christopher King, Jefferson Hills Council
President, “They have taken the initiative on numerous
Parks & Recreational projects and upgrades as well as
bringing Community Day back to the Borough. This study
is just another example of their progressive approach in
following a recommendation that came out of our 2010
Comprehensive Recreation Plan. We look forward to
seeing the results.”
