TJHS Wrestler MacKenzie Matta Wins Tricia Saunders High School Excellence Award
MacKenzie Matta has been recognized by the National Wrestling Hall of Fame as the state and regional winner of the Tricia Saunders High School Excellence Award( TSHSEA). This award recognizes exceptional high-school female student-athletes based on outstanding wrestling success, scholastic achievement and citizenship or community service.
MacKenzie is a six-time state champion for Thomas Jefferson High School. She has placed sixth and eighth at the USA Wrestling Body Bar Freestyle National Championships and was Outstanding Wrestler at the Pennsylvania Montour Tournament in 2014. MacKenzie has also won numerous state championships in folkstyle and freestyle in Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey, and has competed for both the Pennsylvania and United States Women ' s Wresting Teams. She is first chair in her school orchestra for viola and has received a scholarship for wresting and music to Adrian College in Michigan.
Named after Tricia Saunders, a four-time World Champion and women’ s wrestling pioneer, the national TSHSEA winner will be announced during the 41st Annual Honors Weekend at the National Wrestling Hall of Fame & Museum in Stillwater, Okla. All community members aged 65 or over, or retired due to disability( regardless of age), are entitled to receive a Gold Card for free admittance to school-sponsored events. School District Real Estate Tax Collection Reminder
Due to the recent change in the real estate tax collection as adopted by the West Jefferson Hills School District, all community members must pay their school district real estate taxes by December 31st of the calendar year to avoid delinquency and additional penalties.
