Jefferson Hills Library Summer Reading Program Although our Summer Reading Program began in June, there is still time to register for the July programs. The theme is “Build a Better World.” Please register on Event Keeper @ www.jeffersonhillslibrary.org or at the library desk to ensure that we have adequate supplies and refreshments. PRESCHOOL – KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS (Suggested Ages 3-6 yrs.) Tuesdays 10 to 11 a.m. - Includes story time, snack, and craft July 11 - “It’s Book Time with Ronald McDonald” ALL AGES WELCOME July 18 - “Wee Build” (*STEM program) ALL AGES WELCOME July 25 - The Animal Rescue League and Wildlife Center will bring a special guest. NOTE: The July 25 program will be held at 1:00 p.m. All ages welcome! August 1 - Joanne Kielar’s Story Corner and Art Workshop ELEMENTARY STUDENTS (Suggested Ages 6 and up) Thursdays 10 to 11:15 a.m. Includes story time, snack, and craft July 6 - “Sustainability and Pollution” program directed by the Allegheny County Parks July 13 - Work Shop “Building a Better World” July 20 - “Ancient Life in Egypt” by Carnegie Museum of Natural History July 27 - Scavenger Hunt and Party ELEMENTARY STUDENTS Thursdays 11:30 a.m. to 12 noon. Writing is Fun Workshop with Christina Handshue (Begins June 29) TWEENS AND TEENS (5th-12th Grade) Tuesdays 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Teens will be helping with service projects this year and will be earning volunteer service hours from the library. Refreshments will be provided. July 11 - “Operation Tie Dyed Pillowcases” for Soldiers July 18 - “Treats for Tots” and Teen International Luncheon August 1 - Pizza Party & “Minute to Win It” Game 46 West Jefferson Hills Through the efforts of the Allegheny County Library Association, the Jefferson Hills Library has received a State Legislative grant from Senator Joe Scarnati for a collection of workforce development books, including a collection for military transition to employment. These books are now available for checkout at the Library. Some of the titles are: Knock Dead Cover Letters Knock Dead Resumes Out of Uniform – Your Guide to Successful Military to Civilian Career Transition Job Search – Marketing Your Military Experience Deployment to Employment West Jefferson Hills Historical Society Programs SUMMER 2017 The public is invited to join the Historical Society for its monthly programs in the Community Room of the Borough of Jefferson Hills Municipal Center. Wednesday, June 28 at 7 p.m. Noreen Beatty will speak on the “Whiskey Rebellion.” Wednesday, July 26 at 7 p.m. Debbie Morinello will discuss “Understanding Your Genealogical DNA” Wednesday, August 23 at 7 p.m. Author Evening Co-Sponsored with Jefferson Hills Library Stephen Coleman joins us to share his new book, Discovering Gettysburg: An Unconventional Introduction to the Greatest Little Town in America and the Monumental Battle That Made It Famous
