A lot has occurred in the district during this time with much to celebrate. The students continue to excel academically as the district remains one of the top performing school districts in the county, state and nation. Publications from the Pittsburgh Business Times to U.S. News and World Report identify the West Jefferson Hills School District as a leader in academics. This is a tribute to the teaching staff, the support staff, the Administration, the School Board, the Parents, the community, but, most importantly, the students themselves. Once again, members of the graduating class of 2016 have been accepted to and will attend some of the finest post-secondary schools throughout our nation. Congratulations to all of the graduates and best wishes to each as they continue with their life goals. With the infusion of technology, every student attends a classroom that provides the latest educational opportunities. Teachers have been a driving force in the advancement of technology. By the start of the 2016-2017 school year, every elementary school will have a STEAM lab and both the Middle School and the High School will have advanced telecommunications capabilities. We are currently live streaming morning announcements, band performances and other school events. Artistically, we have recently enjoyed another musical production “The Little Mermaid.” What a great show and four wonderful performances. Both the performing and visual arts continue to enrich the lives of our students now 54 West Jefferson Hills and for a lifetime. And, much credit must be given to the terrific organization of TJ Arts. This dedicated group of volunteers has once again provided free opportunities for every one of our students. Don’t miss ‘Sweet Sweet Jazz’ this fall! Athletically, our students again excelled. The Football team won the WPIAL, many teams were able to continue into post-season play and many of the students individually participated in post-season competition. The above demonstrates West Jefferson Hill’s commitment to the whole student. The Board of School Directors is committed to meeting the needs of all children academically, artistically and athletically. A true foundation is in place to meet these needs. As for the High School building project, the preparation to receive the building has been completed and the contractors have arrived to begin construction of the building. We are still on schedule to open the doors of this facility in the fall of 2018. The following pages are full of the good things our students and staff are doing on a daily basis. Please take the time to read the following articles. It truly is a great day to be a Jaguar. Thank you for your continued support of quality education and we hope you enjoy the latest edition of the West Jefferson Hills INCommunity. Best wishes for a wonderful summer and, as always, Go Jaguars. PS. School begins on August 29th! Dr. Michael A. Panza, Superintendent
