Jefferson Hills Recreational Initiative Scholarship: Application Now Open!
The Jefferson Hills Recreational Initiative Scholarship is an opportunity for two graduating seniors at Thomas Jefferson High School to be recognized for their dedication to academics and community service. Each year, one male and one female student are awarded a one-time $ 1,000 scholarship to support their post-secondary education.
To qualify, applicants must be Jefferson Hills residents with a minimum 3.0 GPA and a demonstrated commitment to community service. The application includes a general information form, a high school transcript, a 500-word essay on their community impact, and a recommendation letter from a teacher, guidance counselor, coach, or director.
Applications must be submitted via email to dbentz @ jeffersonhills. net by April 30, 2025. This scholarship not only provides financial support but also highlights the importance of giving back to the community. It’ s spring-cleaning season, which means there’ s no better time to clear out unwanted hazardous and electronic waste the right way. The Borough of Jefferson Hills, in partnership with County Hauling, offers a complimentary Curbside Electronics and Household Hazardous Waste( HHW) Recycling Collection service. This service provides residents with a safe and responsible way to dispose of hardto-recycle items, including electronic devices, household chemicals, and universal wastes. What Items Can Be Recycled? Residents can safely recycle a variety of electronic waste and household hazardous materials. Please review the list of accepted and restricted items below:
HOW DOES IT WORK?
1. Schedule a Pickup: Visit County Hauling’ s website, countyhauling. com / hhw-and-ewaste-recycling / to schedule a collection pickup. Residents may also call 724.929.7694 or email info @ countyhauling. com to arrange a pickup.
2. Receive a Collection Package: Residents disposing of household hazardous waste will receive a collection package in the mail containing a bag, zip tie, directions, and a list of accepted items. Those with only electronic waste will NOT receive a collection bag.
3. Set Items Out for Collection: On the scheduled collection day, residents should place items near the curb prior to 7 a. m. Collection will occur between 7 a. m. and 5 p. m. Residents do not need to be present during collection. est Jefferson Hills BOROUGH OF JEFFERSON HILLS NEWS
