A MESSAGE FROM

WEST JEFFERSON HILLS SCHOOL DISTRICT NEWS
There can be a tendency among school leaders to spend so much time planning and looking ahead that you inadvertently miss the moments worth celebrating in the present. That is why I make it a personal priority to visit our classrooms, attend sporting events and performances, and interact with district partners at community events as much as possible. That time in our schools and community brings me joy and reminds me how fortunate I am to lead this district that has been home for my entire life.
The district is committed to providing families, staff, and community members windows into those incredible and innovative moments in WJH schools through its communications efforts. From our work with IN Community Magazine to our presence on social media, we want to ensure you remain connected with everything that is happening in the district. We also encourage community members to sign up to receive the district’ s new monthly e-magazine.“ Spotted” is an interactive publication that shares and celebrates everything that makes us proud to be Jaguars. School families already receive the e-magazine on the last school day of every month, but we would be happy to add family members, community members, and business owners to our distribution list. Simply send an email to goodnews @ wjhsd. net to be registered! Through our communications survey conducted earlier this year, we heard plenty of feedback about the district’ s website. And while we made several enhancements throughout the school year, it became apparent that a new website was essential. Work on a complete redesign of the district and school websites is underway, and we plan to launch those new sites in summer 2025.
One of the highlights of the year is the annual West Jefferson Hills School District Hall of Fame banquet. This year, we will welcome 17 individuals and two sports
teams as part of the Hall of Fame’ s Class of 2025. The district will also present the first-ever WJHSD Courage & Perseverance Award. The banquet will take place on Saturday, April 12 at the Georgetown Centre in Pleasant Hills, and there is still time to be part of this celebration. Visit www. wjhsd. net / HallOfFame for more details and to purchase tickets. It is sure to be a night full of Jaguar pride as we look back on the accomplishments and achievements of our newest class of inductees.
Understanding where the district has been is crucial to ensuring continued success moving forward. Assistant Superintendent Dr. William Henderson provided an indepth look at academic achievement throughout the district from the last school year at a recent school board meeting, and he highlights some of that presentation in this issue In Community Magazine. This data continues to show remarkable growth and achievement throughout the district, but also helps us identify areas where we need to focus additional attention as we work to continue fulfilling our mission of providing the best educational program for each of the more than 3,500 Jaguars enrolled in our schools.
The 2024-2025 school year is approaching its final nine weeks, bringing with it the traditions, excitement, and celebrations that mark the closing months of the academic calendar. Our educators, staff, and students are poised to finish the year strong. They have already made it one to remember. I encourage you to soak in every moment that will take place this final quarter. I certainly will!
Sincerely,
Dr. Janet M. Sardon Superintendent West Jefferson Hills School District
