Overhauling the
emergency
department for
better overall care
Phase 1 of AHN Jeff erson Hospital’s emergency department is
complete — and it’s certainly something worth celebrating.
The project expanded the existing facility by 34,000 square feet in
order to effi ciently serve the more than 50,000 patients who visit
this ED each year. Top features of the renovation include:
• An easy-to-access entrance and dedicated patient parking
• New state-of-the-art, private rooms
• A new registration process that reduces patient wait times
• A larger triage area for increased patient privacy and effi ciency
• Seven care team stations for more direct nurse-to-patient care
• An integrated imaging suite with X-ray and CT technology, so
patients don’t need to be moved to other areas of the hospital

AHN Jeff erson Hospital, as the fi nal phase of the emergency
department renovation is set to be completed in May of 2020.
