Borough Council Reorganizes on January 2
Borough of Jefferson Hills Council reorganized on January 2, 2018. Magisterial District Judge
Mike Thatcher presided at the swearing in of incumbents Mayor Janice Cmar and Council members
Christopher W. King, Vicki Ielase, David Montgomery and Francis Sockman.
Mr. King was re-elected Council President and James Weber was re‑elected as Council Vice President.
Borough Honors Municipal
Engineer RuthAnn Omer
Gateway Engineers has been serving the Borough of
Jefferson Hills for 52 years. For 40 of those years, RuthAnn
Omer, the first female municipal engineer in Allegheny
County, worked for numerous municipalities in the company
founded by her late father, Frederick Omer.
At the December Council meeting, Mayor Jan Cmar and
Borough Council honored Ms. Omer with a proclamation
on the occasion of her retirement from Gateway. President
Chris King, Council members and Borough staff took turns
thanking Ms. Omer for her efforts, passion for her work and
energy throughout her time at the Borough.
