he eighth-grade students at
Pleasant Hills Middle School
received their own district-issued
Chromebooks immediately
returning from winter break as part of
the district’s 1:1 initiative. Each device
was Asset Tagged, which allows a student
to be assigned to a specific device.
Students now carry the device with them
throughout the day, much like a textbook,
for use in all their classes.
The teachers at Pleasant Hills Middle
School utilize Google Classroom to
facilitate student learning. According to
Google Education, “Google Classroom is a
workflow management system designed
with the goal of saving teachers and
students time by organizing assignments
and class content in one easy-to-access
online space. As a fully-integrated part of
the G Suite for Education platform, Google
Classroom works seamlessly with all of
Google’s apps for education, allowing
