F
or past and present students of McClellan
Elementary School, former Pleasant Hills Police Chief
Edward Cunningham had been a welcome sight. At 9
a.m. every school day for the majority of his 37-year
police career, Chief Cunningham would patrol the
halls of McClellan, helping students whenever and
however he could. On Friday, December 13, 2013, the
Chief patrolled the halls for the last time as Chief of the
Pleasant Hills Police Department.
Students and teachers came out of their classrooms
to clap and cheer for Chief Cunningham as he did
his final rounds. Students gave letters of thanks and
balloons to the Chief, all
while “Hail to the Chief”
played over the intercom
system.
