Dr . Pedro Aguilar comes from a family of physicians , so there was no question that he ’ d become one , too .
“ I always felt it was my calling ,” he said . He chose to specialize in neurosurgery because he ’ s fascinated by the science and anatomy of how things fit together , and because he likes to take people who are in debilitating pain or potential paralysis back to a functional life . “ The best part of my job ,” he said . “ I also love getting to know patients I ’ ve seen over the years , taking care of their family members , seeing their lives develop .”
