Sixth Grade Students Begin Transition to Middle School
On Monday , August 22 , Pleasant Hills Middle School staff welcomed our incoming sixth grade students , along with their parents , for Sixth Grade Open House and Orientation . The program is specifically designed to address student and parent concerns about transitioning to the middle school setting . PHMS teachers and staff were on hand to introduce the students to “ all things middle school . ” We look forward to getting to know our new middle school students and to be part of the many great things they will accomplish over the next years !

After 10 years of serving the students and families of PHMS , Dr . Melissa McCauley is moving on , but staying within the District . Dr . McCauley served as both the assistant principal and Family Consumer Science teacher at PHMS . She is transitioning to her new role as the assistant principal at Jefferson Intermediate School . On behalf of the middle school , thank you Dr . McCauley for the time you devoted to helping improve the lives of our students , families and staff . PHMS is a better place because of you !
PHMS Summer Cleaning Crew
A special thank you to our summer cleaning and year-around maintenance personnel . It takes a tremendous amount of time and effort to clean up from the previous school year and prepare the building for the upcoming year . The crew at Pleasant Hills Middle School worked tirelessly to make the building shine ! Thank you Dave McBride , Kailyn Walters , Jackie Zimmer and Jack Kline . And thank you to our building maintenance leader , Ken Muffi .
Welcome New Staff Members
We would like to welcome our new staff members to PHMS . Mrs . Jodi Merwin is the new assistant principal . Mrs . Merwin previously served as the assistant principal at Jefferson Intermediate School and Thomas Jefferson High School . We look forward to the varied experiences Mrs . Merwin brings to PHMS .
Two new teachers were also hired to join the PHMS team . Ms . Megan Pantuso will be the 8th grade learning support teacher . Megan previously worked as a special education teacher in the Elizabeth Forward School District . Taylor Woodrow was recently hired as the Speech and Language Teacher for the middle school and TJHS . Taylor worked in the same capacity at South Park Middle School . Mr . Chris Cieply will be the 7th grade math teacher . Mr . Cieply has been at PHMS for the past seven years as a special education teacher . We ’ re looking forward to seeing all the great things our staff members and students accomplish working together .
