MESSAGE FROM
Mr. Matthew Patterson,
Assistant Superintendent
of Elementary Education
O
n behalf of our entire team, I would
like to welcome you to the 2019-
2020 school year. Following a year of
significant change and learning for
everyone, we look forward to continually improving
based on our learned experiences.
The word “new” is likely the most overused word
here in our District. New programming in math,
writing, science, social-emotional learning, full-
day kindergarten, a new high school, new facility
renovations at Gill Hall, Jefferson and McClellan.
During the summer, we began the process of
researching and adopting a new core reading
program for grades K-8 which is anticipated to be in
place for the 2020-2021 school year. From facilities
to programming, a renewed sense of pride and
purpose abounds the halls of the West Jefferson
Hills School District!
One of the primary reasons the District is
successful is because of the parents and guardians
40 WEST JEFFERSON HILLS
of the children who attend here. I am always
amazed by the showing of support by parents/
guardians and the community in general at various
events during the year. The continued partnership
between home and school only strengthens the
educational benefit for all children, and I know we
can continue to count on your support.
Finally, students here are incredibly fortunate to
be served by an outstanding team of educators,
para educators, support staff and administrators.
Filled with determination, persistence and great
care, the adults of this school district want nothing
but the best for students. Please be sure to extend
your thanks to these individuals every chance you
get and let them know they are appreciated.
Thank you for your continued support of the
West Jefferson Hills School District and for trusting
us to serve your child(ren). Best wishes for a
wonderful 2019-2020 school year!
