Jefferson Hills Library to
Host Book Show
The Just Write Book Show will be held on Saturday, October 27, at
Jefferson Hills Library from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Book lovers will
have a chance to purchase books from local authors, which include
inspirational pieces, action novels, children’s books, and thrillers.
Authors will give a short presentation that details the highlights of
their books and the inspiration behind their work. They will also be
autographing copies of their books, at no extra cost.
Local photographer, Alicia Salmon, will have a variety of beautiful
photographs to purchase, that include a line of photo cards that
are sure to please animal lovers and nature buffs! There will also be
an assortment of gift baskets being raffled off, and everyone that
walks through the door will get one free ticket. Whether you are an
avid reader or want to meet your favorite local authors, there will be
something for everyone at the Just Write Book Show!
Publishers from Amerime Media will be attending the show to
meet with writers, of all ages, who one day hope to have a book
published. Local writers are encouraged to attend.
2018 BookStop
Program Promotes
School, Library
and Community
Partnerships
The BookStop Program promoted reading throughout
the summer by stopping at various sites in the District
and distributing books to children. In July, Bookstop
visited the Pleasant Hills and Jefferson Hills Summer
Recreation Programs. The children were happy to meet
WJHSD administrators, including TJ High School Football
coach Mr. Bill Cherpak and the football team. Thanks to
Pleasant Hills
Library Director,
Sharon Milas
and Jefferson
Hills Youth
Services Librarian,
Ann Zettl for
organizing the
stops.
Summer Reading
ROCKS!
Children who attended the Summer Reading Program at Jefferson Hills Library found
lots of reasons to agree with this year’s theme, “Libraries Rock.” Here are just a few of the
examples of why our program “rocked” this year!
Carnegie Science Center presented an awesome
“Grand Slam Science” program for our Summer
Reading Kickoff!
Home Depot presented programs for our
preschool and elementary children. Each child
built a planter and filled it with flowers.

The Carnegie Museum of Natural History
presented an engaging program, “Furs, Feathers,
and Scales.” The children loved the hands-on
learning sites.
Teen volunteers directed a fun outdoor playtime
program for the summer reading friends.
