Gill Hall VFD Receives Another Federal Grant Congressman Tim Murphy recently notified Gill Hall VFC that it has been awarded a FEMA AFG (Assistance to Firefighters Grant) of $16,000 for the complete installation and purchase of an industrial gear extractor and dryer. This equipment washes and decontaminates the fight fighters’ turnout gear removing contaminants and biohazards while preserving fabric integrity. This is the fourth Federal grant in three years that Gill Hall has won thanks to the efforts of Assistant Chief Adam Galis. Other awards were $140,000 for Air Packs; $397,000 for a new fire truck, that will be delivered later this month and ready to respond to emergencies in October; and $27,000 for new turnout gear for firefighters. “We are grateful to Congressman Murphy and Congress for the support provided to our Fire Companies by the Federal grant program,” said Galis. “In addition, we would like to thank the Jefferson Hills community for its continued support by their contributions. Although the Federal grants provide vital assistance, our fire companies are still in great need of the equipment and services that can only be provided by the support of our community.” State Mayors’ Association Represents, Educates and Advocates for PA Mayors In July, Jefferson Hills Mayor Jan Cmar attended the 46th Annual Pennsylvania Mayors’ Association Conference in Erie.
