Scheuermann’s Disease (also known as
juvenile kyphosis) is characterized by uneven
growth in the vertebrae, causing them to form
a wedge shape. Typical spines have natural
curves of 20 to 40 degrees. People with
steeper curves—from 40 to 45 degrees—are
said to suffer from kyphosis. Scheuermann’s
Disease takes kyphosis to the extreme:
sufferers have spinal curvatures of up to
75 degrees.
