If you’ re wanting to know more about your ancestors, or just the history of the area, the Fairview Area Historical Society might be the best place to start. It has many resources, including documents and photos, and a gift shop with interesting books.

‘ COME HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS’ WITH ERIE PHILHARMONIC
A cherished holiday tradition returns to the Philharmonic with a concert of holiday classics. The Erie Philharmonic, the Philharmonic Chorus and the Erie Philharmonic Youth Choirs will join with dancers from Mercyhurst University and Broadway star Blaine Krauss in a festive celebration of the season, under the masterful direction of Daniel Meyer.
This family-friendly event is an annual tradition for many area families, with a carol sing-along and favorite holiday tunes. There will also be a visit from Santa!

HERE WE GO A WASSAILING!
The Hagen History Center is offering its popular Wassail class at the Yellow House at the Battles estate in Girard. The event takes place on Dec. 9 at 6 p. m., when the Full Circle Winery will offer a festive evening of flavor with this warm holiday beverage at“ Winter Warmers at the Yellow House.”
In addition to the cozy winter beverages, charcuterie board will be offered with the sipping, and each guest will receive a spice sachet and recipe cards. For tickets and reservations, visit hagenhistory. org / events.
ASBURY WOODS HOLIDAY EVENTS
Winter Wonderland Winter Wonderland returns to Asbury
Woods this year, with the event taking place every Thursday through Sunday in December( except Dec. 25). The boardwalk will be adorned in beautiful lights. The Andrew J. Conner Nature Center will have a train display and the gift shop will be open for browsing.
There will be live entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays with an outdoor fire. Crafts, hot chocolate and snacks will also be offered, along with special 3-D glasses that will give a whole new dimension to the light display.
This event is free to the public, but a $ 5 donation is suggested.
Wreath Making Class
For those who love to make handcrafted decorations for the holidays, there will be a wreath making class on Dec. 4, using locally sourced evergreen fronds. This class is designed for any skill level from beginner to seasoned crafters. There is a class fee.
Holiday Door Swag Class On Dec. 18, participants will be able to make a door decoration with fresh-cut greenery, ribbon and decorative items to welcome holiday guests to your home! There is a class fee.

MUSIC FOR VETERANS
The Music for Veterans program was founded in 2011. It provides a healthy environment of camaraderie at weekly music sessions, where veterans can play music together and build friendships with others who have served.
The positive results have been welldocumented, and Music for Veterans has received accolades from both the Veterans Administration and the Veterans Center.
