“ We travel all over , even into New York and Ohio ,” says Kristin . Her interior design talent comes in handy when planning wedding and reception spaces for brides . They can install arches , candelabras and other accents to create a dreamy setting that ’ s highlighted by beautiful fresh flowers . But not everyone wants a massive wedding in a formal setting .
Many brides these days plan a low-key celebration with a few close friends and family or an elopement . “ They stop by and pick up their bridal bouquets and boutonnieres on Friday for their weekend wedding ,” explains Kristin . But she says it really doesn ’ t matter about the size of the gathering . Every wedding is special , and she loves being a part of a couple ’ s memorable day .
“ When you think about it , flowers are usually a part of every momentous occasion in your life ,” notes Kristin . Falling in love , weddings , the birth of a child , Mother ’ s Day and even memorials involve flowers to honor the occasion and the individuals .
Kristin sells at her flower stand located near her farm in Albion on weekends from April through December . But customers can order online as well , and either pick up their flowers or have them delivered . She also offers a unique way to enjoy flowers throughout the growing season with a subscription for four bouquets during spring , four bouquets during summer and three bouquets in autumn . Subscribers get some of the best flowers available and can enjoy the beauty of them on a regular basis .
One advantage of buying from a local grower is that since the flowers are not shipped in from another area , they ’ re not shop-worn from travel and they ’ ll stay fresher and more beautiful much longer .
Kristin has several people from around the community who now call her “ the flower lady ,” a name she fully embraces . People have been very supportive of her farm . “ It ’ s very important to our family to be a part of the community and produce something that makes people happy . I ’ ve never delivered a basket of flowers and had anybody be angry about it .”
