THE PRESQUE ISLE PARTNERSHIP ANNOUNCES RETURN OF JOE ROOT’ S‘ FROSTBITE OPEN’ TO PRESQUE ISLE STATE PARK
Entering its 7th year, Joe Root’ s Frostbite Open challenges golfers to nine holes of golf on frozen( maybe) Presque Isle Bay on Saturday, Feb. 25, from 9 a. m. to 4 p. m.
Pre-registration is required, and check-in will take place at Stull Interpretive Center on Presque Isle. Golfers in teams of two, three or four tee-off from Vista 3 parking lot and swing their way through the par-3 course. Joe Root’ s Grill will provide a free meal to all participating golfers following the event, and Mill Creek Coffee will provide free coffee and hot chocolate to all participants. Park educator Brian Gula will portray legendary Joe Root and kick off the event at 9 a. m. Register your twosome($ 120), threesome($ 180), or foursome($ 240), at discoverpi. com.
Entry includes a nine-hole round, logo golf ball, tennis ball for the rough( deep snow), special event keepsake, coffee & hot chocolate, meal at Joe Root’ s Grill, and a story that will never get old.
Proceeds from the 7th annual Joe Root’ s Frostbite Open will benefit projects and programs undertaken by the Presque Isle Partnership aimed at enhancing the Presque Isle visitor experience.
NOTE: In the case of insufficient ice on Presque Isle Bay, the event will take place on the beach between Beach 1 and Barracks Beach. n
