EVERYTHING SCOTTISH!
Scotland will come to northwest Pennsylvania Sept. 4 – 6 with the 31st annual Highland Games & Scottish Festival in Edinboro. The celebration features world-class musicians, including for the pipes and drums, Celtic vendors and artisans, and traditional Scottish foods.
Some highlights include the National Scottish Fiddle and Harp Championships, lots of Highland dance, clan gatherings, and exciting athletic competitions with the caber toss and stone throw. There will also be a beer garden at the site. Most of the events are free except for the ceilidh dinner, which is a ticketed event.

FAIRVIEW AREA HISTORICAL SOCIETY IS OPEN!
The historical society is open each Tuesday from 1 to 3 p. m., with rare exceptions, through mid-November. If you would like a tour of the historic Sturgeon House, or would like to do research on a different day, call 814.474.5855.

THE CULTURAL LOOP
A free trolley runs Saturday evenings in Erie from 5 p. m. to midnight, with stops at the Warner Theatre, Erie Playhouse, Renaissance Center, Dafmark Dance Theater, Erie Art Museum, Sheraton Erie Bayfront and several other destinations.
The Cultural Loop is a partnership between the Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority and the Erie Philharmonic. Sit back, relax, and see all that downtown Erie has to offer on the 20L!

THE 3RD ANNUAL VETERANS PIG ROAST!
Blended Spirits Ranch will host its annual pig roast on Sept. 6, from 2 to 8 p. m. at 10301 Ridge Road in Girard. Join the celebration for great music and food to support veterans at the ranch!

Avonia Beach is a place where you can enjoy beautiful sunsets over the lake, fishing, or just a casual stroll along the shore.
Pleasant Ridge Park in Girard has great walking trails, and if you’ re into team sports, there are soccer fields, softball fields, a sand volleyball court and an 18- hole disc golf course.
Struchen Flats Park offers a secluded area on Platz / Elk Valley roads, with 17 wooded acres! Another great fishing spot, it’ s a great place to enjoy the quiet of nature.
Fairview Central Park is another wonderful park to just relax on a bench, enjoying the flowers and the warm weather. It’ s conveniently located at the intersection of routes 98 and 20.
Fairview Flag Park offers walking, jogging, bike riding( non-motorized) and areas to walk your best four-legged friend on 18 acres.
Buseck Memorial Park is a small park for a short respite at the corner of Avonia Road and Chestnut Street.

MUSIC FOR VETERANS
Music for Veterans, founded in 2011, provides a healthy environment of camaraderie at weekly sessions where veterans are able to play music together and build friendships with others who’ ve served.
The positive results from this organization have been welldocumented, and Music for Veterans has received accolades from both the Veterans Administration and the Veterans Center.
If you are able to donate an instrument for a vet to play, or would like to make a contribution, visit the website at music4veterans. org. There is also a schedule of performances available.
ERIE DUATHLON 2025
The Erie Duathlon will take place this year on Sept. 21, with the course beginning and ending at the Pleasant Ridge Park in Fairview.
The event includes a 5K run followed by a 20K bike ride. The course is designed for both veteran racers and hobbyists. Athletes can compete as individuals or as a two-person relay. The beneficiary is the Erie Cancer Wellness Center.
