Playtime Pad tablets available for
checkout! They are preloaded with
kid-friendly apps and games and can be
checked out for three weeks.

If you’ve used Overdrive to download
eBooks, then you already know how to
use Overdrive for magazines, new to
WACL’s downloadable lineup this year.
Magazines check out and download the
same way, and there’s no limit on how
many you can borrow. Also, eMagazine
checkouts do not count toward your
Overdrive checkout limit of 20 at a time.
VITA TAX SERVICE
AT THE LIBRARY
The service will be available at Western
Allegheny Community Library Feb.
4 through April 12, and sign-ups are
currently underway.
VITA volunteers will complete tax
forms for senior citizens and low-
income residents (less than $55,000)
on Mondays,
Tuesdays, and
Thursdays.
All interested
residents should
call the library at 724.695.8150 to
schedule an appointment. The service is
by appointment only. No walk-ins will be
accepted.
The library will have select federal
tax forms and instructions available on
or about January 31. Other tax forms
may be obtained from the IRS website
(irs.gov) or by calling 1.800.829.3676.
State tax forms and PA property/
rent rebate applications are no longer
being distributed to libraries. They
can be accessed online or by calling
717.787.8201. PA property/rent rebate
booklets can be obtained by calling

Forms may be printed at the library at
a rate of $.25 for black & white, $.50 for
color.
HUMAN SERVICES TO

SERIES: POWERFUL
TOOLS FOR
CAREGIVERS
The Department of Human Services
Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is
offering a free six-week education series,
Powerful Tools for Caregivers. This
series is for nonprofessional caregivers
and is designed to educate them about
self-care. Topics include Taking Care of
You; Identifying and Reducing Personal
Stress; Communicating Feelings, Needs,
and Concerns; Communicating in
Challenging Situations; Learning from
Our Emotions; and Mastering Caregiving
Decisions. Participants must be present
for all six sessions.
Sessions are scheduled at Valley Care
Adult Day Center, 650 Cherrington
Parkway, Moon Township, 15108, from 1
to 3 p.m., Fridays, March 8, 15, 22, and 29
and April 5 and 12.

AMERICAN RED CROSS
AND VARIETY – THE
CHILDREN’S CHARITY
OF PITTSBURGH
Clearview Federal Credit Union
recently presented donation checks to
the American Red Cross of Southwestern
Pennsylvania and Variety – the Children’s
Charity of Pittsburgh. Each received
$5,000.
The donation to the American Red
Cross will go to the victims of the Tree
of Life tragedy that occurred on Oct. 27,
2018, and the donation to Variety will go
toward helping children with disabilities
live life to the fullest with a focus on
mobility, communication and social
inclusion. n
