There is no single definition of post-secondary success— and no single pathway that is right for every student. Every West Allegheny graduate should leave prepared to confidently pursue a viable post-secondary plan, whether that means a four-year college, two-year college, technical or trade school, career training, military service, or direct entry into the workforce.
The Portrait of a Graduate is more than an image. It represents the destination. West Allegheny’ s Framework for Excellence establishes the district priorities that guide the work, which are translated into building-level goals. The Road to Readiness frameworks identify key milestones across the K – 12 journey. And the Portrait of a Graduate keeps the ultimate outcome in focus: preparing students to leave West Allegheny ready for what comes next.
Together, these pieces create an aligned system— from kindergarten classrooms to high school internships, college-level coursework, athletics, fine arts, career exploration, and beyond— focused on a common purpose: ensuring every West Allegheny student graduates with a viable post-secondary plan and is truly ready for life.
