“Special Olympics Pennsylvania
is pleased to enter into a partnership
with Clearview Federal Credit Union,”
said Tim Kerrihard, SOPA’s Chief
Development Officer. “Our partnership
will not only benefit our programs within
the Southwestern region of the state from
a financial perspective, but it will also fuel
our movement through the time, energy
and enthusiasm of the credit union’s
employee volunteers. This collaboration
will help our organization to engage,
empower, and transform communities
to ensure full inclusion for people with
intellectual disabilities.”
CLEARVIEW PARTNERS
WITH SPECIAL
OLYMPICS TO SUPPORT
ORGANIZATION AND
LOCAL EVENTS
Clearview Federal Credit Union
is partnering with Special Olympics
Pennsylvania (SOPA) this year to
support sports training and competition
in a variety of Olympic-type sports for
children and adults with intellectual
disabilities.
Employees of Clearview will
volunteer and provide event support for
Special Olympics athletes primarily in
Washington, Westmoreland, Allegheny,
Beaver and Butler counties. Clearview
members will also support a collection
drive at all Clearview locations for sports
items and equipment.
In addition to the direct event and
participant support, Clearview will have
financial education materials to share
with students and their families.
Clearview will provide support to
many of the southwestern PA events that
SOPA hosts each year. Athletes from ages
8 to 80 compete across the state and in
the region, with qualifying regional and
state athletes competing internationally.

“This state funding supports our local
fire & EMS departments in protecting
residents and property by ensuring they
can maintain top-notch facilities, procure
equipment, maintain training and
readiness, and remain financially stable,”
said Iovino, who also is Minority Chair
of the Senate Committee on Veterans
Affairs and Emergency Preparedness.
“I am proud to work with our local fire
and EMS departments and the Office of
the State Fire Commissioner to keep 37th
Senatorial District communities safe.”
The grants were awarded through the
Office of the State Fire Commissioner’s
Fire Company and Emergency Medical
Service Grant Program. The program
makes an annual grant available to
volunteer and career fire companies,
emergency medical services departments,
and volunteer rescue squads for
a combination of up to two projects
in the following categories: facilities,
equipment, debt reduction, training and
education, and overtime costs associated
with backfilling positions while
firefighters are attending training (career
departments only).
The grants were announced as part of
an almost $31 million statewide package;
the average grant statewide was $12,401.

In “Xanadu,” struggling artist Sonny
Malone (Brendan Greco) is trapped
in a dull job painting album covers.
He is instantly attracted to Kira (Rosa
Dugan), an anonymous woman randomly
photographed in the background of one
of his assignments, but no one is able
to identify her. Visiting the auditorium
where the cover was shot, Sonny finds
the mysterious woman, an ageless Greek
muse, who encourages him to team up
with old-fashioned Danny McGuire ( Joel
Skelley) to build a roller-skating disco.
You can see the show at Bishop
Canevin High School, 2700 Morange
Road in Carnegie (15205) Apr. 23-25.
