South, which began in 1969 and features
five lectures that are held in the Upper
St. Clair High School theater from
10:10‑11:10 a.m.
For the 2019-2020 season, the exciting
array of speakers are:
Oct. 1 – Lou Holtz, legendary football
coach, ESPN sports analyst and
renowned motivational speaker
Nov. 5 – Beth Macy, award-winning
journalist with a focus on social problems
including the opioid crisis
Dec. 3 – Alan Zwiebel, Emmy Award-
winning comedy writer including for
“Saturday Night Live”
Feb. 4 – Vijay Gupta, violinist/educator/
mental health advocate
March 17 – Lynsey Addario, Pulitzer
Prize-winning photojournalist,
focusing on War, Injustice, Resilience
and Humanity
In addition to the formal lecture, an
optional luncheon at St. Clair Country
Club is held immediately following
where the speaker is available to answer
questions posed by the luncheon
audience, which frequently leads to a
very candid exchange! Tickets for the
2019‑2020 season are sold as a series

SOUTH HILLS CHORALE

SPANGLED SPRING’
The South Hills Chorale sings into a
“Star Spangled Spring” at 7:30 p.m., Apr.
26 and 27, at Westminster Presbyterian
Church, 2040 Washington Road,
Upper St. Clair. The 90 singers from
various communities in and around
Pittsburgh come together to present an
enjoyable program of Broadway, patriotic
and American folk tunes, exuberantly

heralding the end of winter and hinting at
the coming summer.

SOUTH HILLS SENIOR
SOFTBALL LOOKING
FOR MEMBERS
The South Hills Senior Softball League
announced that registration is open for
its 2019 season. The league is for players
55 years old and up. (Players who are
54 can join at any time during the year
they turn 55.) Information and forms for
registration are on the league’s website at
seniorsoftballleague.com.
The league holds practices and games
from April through August or early
September at fields in South Park and
elsewhere in the South Hills.
Players are chosen for teams each
spring in a draft, ensuring that talent is
spread more or less evenly among the
teams. The league holds a catered picnic
at the end of each season.
Players come from all over the
area, including Baldwin, Bethel Park,
Bridgeville, Carnegie, Castle Shannon,
Chartiers Valley, Dormont, Mt. Lebanon,
Peters Township, South Park, Upper St.
Clair, Whitehall and other communities.
WOMEN’S GOLF OF MT.
LEBANON WANTS YOU
TO GET BACK INTO THE
SWING OF THINGS
Are you a woman interested in
playing golf in a fun, non-competitive
environment? Then consider joining

the Women’s Golf Association of Mt.
Lebanon, a league that plays weekly at the
Mt. Lebanon Golf Course.
Every Tuesday from April 2 through
most of October, the group plays 9 holes,
starting between 7:15 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.
A round of golf usually takes about 2 to
21/2 hours. Ladies of all golfing abilities
are welcome and you don’t have to have
playing partners. There are also some fun
events throughout the year, including a
benefit for breast cancer research, mixers,
weekly events and four tournaments.
Dues for the year are $26 and members
also pay green and cart fees, which
for 2019 will be $23 (under age 62)
or $19 (age 62 and over). You do not
have to be a Mt. Lebanon resident to
