ROTARIAN FUNDRAISER HAS RAISED NEARLY $ 30K FOR GILFILLAN FARM.

For 110 years, Rotary Clubs around the U. S. have been known worldwide for their kindness and generosity. The Upper St. Clair-Bethel Park Rotary Club is no different. Over the last two years the club has raised more than $ 26,000 for Gilfillan Farm through the Barnyard Beer Benefit.
This year, the third benefit will be held on May 27 at the farm on Orr Road and will include a variety of craft beers, local food and live music.
It all started with an idea by Natalie Mihalek, a Rotarian with the club since 2012.
“ We have the Rotary’ s Breakfast Club, Lunch Club and Evening Club and we all go to each other’ s events, but we were looking to host a Rotary Day to get us all together and have fun,” says Mihalek, an attorney and mom of three.
She found the perfect venue after a tour of Gilfillan Farm. The 15-acre farm was built in the 1850s, and was left to the Historical Society of Upper St. Clair in 2001 in the will of Margaret Gilfillan. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and awarded a Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation plaque in 2011, it is open to the public on Community Day or by appointment.
After a member of the Historical Society of Upper St. Clair mentioned the farm while speaking at a Rotary Club meeting, Mihalek became curious about it.
