What a Difference One Day Can Make
Colorado Gives
Day is synonymous
with generosity,
philanthropy and
appreciation in
our great state.
In its third year,
Annie Brunsell,
increased reach
Development Director
and involvement
resulted in donations of over
$15,700,000! On December 4, 2012
over 68,000 Coloradoans found it
in their hearts and pocketbooks to
contribute to agencies throughout the
state, making our communities strong,
compassionate and enjoyable places
to live.
In 2012, the number and amount of
contributions directed to Pathways
Hospice tripled from the previous year.
Annie Brunsell, Development Director
for Pathways Hospice, explains that
“Generous, thoughtful and focused
philanthropy is essential for Pathways
Hospice to meet financial obligations
and solidifies a legacy of generosity
from our communities for those
touched by our care.” She refers
to her role within the agency as a
“Facilitator of Gratitude” helping
individuals find ways to give that are
consistent with their values and in a
manner that preserves those things
that are essential to quality care and
celebration of life to the end. With
extensive experience in investment
banking, managing portfolios and
estates and planned giving, Annie
came to Pathways Hospice to broaden
her experience and brings to us new
and creative ways to support our
mission.
Pathways Hospice Thanks Friends and Supporters
Thank you to Diana Fest and God’s
Pattern Quilters from Redeemer
Lutheran Church for making and
donating two lovely lap quilts to be
used by patients at the Pathways
Hospice Care Center at McKee
Medical Center. The comfort of these
handmade quilts, one featuring earthtoned batiks and the other in shades
of blue, will bring a special feeling
of care, warmth and comfort to those
who use them.
Continuing a tradition of helping
others find a way to give during the
holidays, 96.1 Kiss FM once again
hosted the annual Kiss-mas Wishes
drive for area non-profits at The
Promenade Shops at Centerra in
December. Pathways Hospice was
one of the organizations benefitting
from this endeavor, organized by Mike
Sanchez at 96.1 Kiss FM – Clear
Channel. Shoppers were incredibly
generous, purchasing items from
our wish list for both our hospice
patients and for use in art therapy
for those who are grieving. Baby
monitors, fleece blankets, sheet sets,
u-shaped neck pillows, hand held
shower heads, candles, personal care
items, art supplies and art store gift
certificates are all items we use on
a daily basis in caring for patients
and counseling bereavement clients.
Our thanks to Kiss FM and to all
those who purchased these items for
someone else’s use and enjoyment
this Christmas.
Upon learning more about the
Pathways Hospice Honoring Veterans
Program through a presentation by
Dave Sudduth, Veteran Volunteer and
Kathy Anderson, Honoring Veterans
Task Force member, several members
of the Marine Corps League Loveland
Detachment expressed interest in
volunteering to help fellow veterans.
The group collectively gave a financial
gift to the agency to provide grief
and loss counseling and art therapy
to the family of a local veteran who
received care from our agency. This
contribution not only honors the
memory of a veteran, it provides
valuable bereavement support for a
loved one. Thank you!
For the past few years, the staff
at Pathways Hospice has been
participating in the Greeley Tribune
“Wishes Come True” program, which
identifies senior citizens in the
Greeley area who are in need of some
simple and humble items (blankets,
shirts, robes, etc.). Staff responded
in a big-hearted way; we collected
and delivered 20 gifts! Thank you all
for being so generous and thank you
to the Greeley Tribune for organizing
the program.
