In the Works - Community Newsletter August 2017 | Page 4
I want to thank so many people for
their dedication and service. This
program provides our district with the
opportunity to improve and make San
Francisco a livable city.
The Public Works came to the garden
with enthusiasm, friendliness and a
can-do approach. With their help, we
accomplished a true transformation of
the garden.
They expressed a true appreciation of the
garden and their work showed it. I can’t
thank them enough for all that they did.
My name is Ashley Arnold and I
have been going through the condo
conversion process over the last y ear.
I wanted to reach out and tell you how
helpful Ernie Banks on the mapping
team has been through this process.
He is responsive, very knowledgeable
and was able to put my mind at ease
when we had some issues or changes
arise. Additionally, he is one of the
kindest people I've met in the various
City agencies that are involved in
condo converting and I have very much
appreciated his time and help.
He is a true asset to your team!
Thank you for your time,
Ashley A.
On Saturday, July 29, the Los Palmos
Garden participated in District 7’s
Community Clean Team program.
Neighbors were invited to come help and
city staff, a truck, tools and volunteers
arrived to transform our garden into a
magical oasis in the City.
Our partnership is so valuable and we
look forward to next year’s opportunity
to work with your top-notch staff and
keep our Los Palmos Garden beautiful
and an asset to our neighborhood.

I am writing to personally thank all
the individuals from Public Works
Bureaus of Urban Forestry and Street
Environmental Services who have
been participating in our recent efforts
to rehabilitate Rincon Hill Dog Park.
Their dedication, positive attitude,
commitment and professionalism have
proven invaluable to all of us who love
our dog park.
Before Public Works became involved,
our park had fallen into disrepair:
excessive weed and brush growth; lack
of volunteers and staff to regularly clean;
vandals who destroyed the gates and
stole our locks; and a hub for drug users
and encampments that discouraged the
neighbors from visiting.
From the very first time I contacted
the staff at Urban Forestry to ask for
assistance, they made it clear that they
would do everything in their power to
help out. Everyone I've worked with
have all gone above and beyond to make
our efforts a success. Their efforts were
aided by the fabulous Urban Forestry
crew who came to get the hardest part
done – cutting and clearing the brush
and laying wood chips in the areas that
had been cleared. They were wonderful!
I remember coming down to the park
on Sunday and being astonished by how
many dedicated people had shown up
on a beautiful Sunday to help us make
the park a great place again. In just a
few hours, together we achieved nothing
short of a miracle.
And, now that the park looks so much
better and feels safer, people have been
coming back. Public Works provided our
neighborhood with a great public service.
Thanks to your agency, Rincon Hill Dog
Park is back to being the place we love to
bring our dogs and meet neighbors. We
couldn’t have done it without you.
With much gratitude,
Deborah G.
I want to let you know what a great
job Corridors worker Gedion Borrou
is doing on the Eighth Avenue (Inner
Sunset) street cleaning crew. He is a
diligent worker, always has a positive
attitude and is an excellent representative
of Public Works. I hope his superiors
recognize this exceptional individual.
Thank you.
