Meet the Cast
Erin Lauer ( Catherine Givings ) feels honored to be in this , her seventh production at Theatre Cedar Rapids . Other TCR roles include Glinda the Good Witch and Aunt Em in The Wizard of Oz , Karen the Computer in The SpongeBob Musical , Phoebe D ' Ysquith in A Gentleman ' s Guide to Love and Murder , and Zuzu ' s mom in Dance Nation . Catch her in her next role as Artemisia Gentileschi in Lauren Gunderson ’ s Artemisia -- playing at Dreamwell Theatre the last weekend in June . To Maggie , Abby , and Rosie ( who will not be seeing this play for obvious reasons ): I love being your mom ; it ’ s one of my favorite things in the whole wide world !
Brian Smith ( Dr . Givings ) is excited to return to TCR after performing as Professor Plum in “ Clue ” and Nils Krogstad in “ A Doll ’ s House ” last year . He was recently on stage for MVLCC ’ s production of “ Ms . Holmes and Ms . Watson , Apt . 2B ” as Inspector Lestrade . He would like to thank the cast and crew for the stimulating experience and his husband , John , for his continued support of all his theatre endeavors .
Carrie Houchins-Witt
( Annie ) is happy to be working with TCR again , after appearing in Matilda ( Mrs . Wormwood ). Other favorite corridor roles include Marcellus / Player Queen in Hamlet at Crooked Path Theatre , Witch in MacBeth at Riverside Theatre , and The Baker ’ s Wife in Into the Woods at City Circle Theatre Company . Carrie received a BA in theatre from Northwestern University . When not onstage , she owns a tax and financial planning firm in Coralville . Thanks , as always , to my favorites – Corey , Waylon and Carter Birch .
Joshua Fryvecind ( Mr . Daldry ) is pleased to make his TCR return as Mr . Daldry . Performing in theatres all along the Corridor , some favorite roles include Bruce Bechdel ( Fun Home ), Lonny ( Rock of Ages ), Reverend Jeremiah Brown ( Inherit the Wind ), and Dr . Astrov ( Uncle Vanya ). He would like to thank his friends , family , and octopuses for their love and support . And thank you for supporting live theatre .
