A multimillion-dollar vision for the Westmead precinct has been released in the hope of attracting funding during the lead up to September’ s federal election.
Westmead Alliance members have called on the state and federal governments to invest in transport links and infrastructure to expand the fastest growing health and medical research precinct in the country.
The alliance released a $ 68 million vision for the precinct, which includes 14 priority projects such as increased parking, widening of Darcy Road on the westbound approach to the Cumberland Highway, and creation of a new access point from Briens Road to Mons Road.
The Children’ s Medical Research Institute’ s professor Roger Reddel said investment in Westmead’ s infrastructure woud help solve traffic congestion, parking problems, poor street amenity, limited accessibility and connection to surrounding areas.
