With its 4,000 lb. rating, patented design and the use of High Strength Alloy steel this dolly is in a class of its own. The XD™ Dolly has the same operating features as the Speed® Dolly such as our Cam-Lock system and balanced design but the similarities end there. To give the XD™ Dolly the strength to hold up to the most demanding commercial and municipal towing services we needed to start from scratch. We started with a solid foundation by designing a rigid boxed frame. Then we laser cut all of the steel from grade 80 alloy steel to an accuracy of within .004 of an inch. We then designed a stronger spindle made from 1045 high strength steel and machine it on our own HAAS CNC Lathe to within .002 of inch accuracy. We then did computer simulations, using Solid Works 3D modeling software and tested the whole thing on a test stand. The biggest challenge we faced was in keeping our test stand in one piece. After 100,00 cycles the test stand came out the loser and the XD™ Dolly was the winner. Like the Speed® Dolly, the XD™ Dolly is simple to maintain with no gizmos, exposed springs or latches to rust up or fall off. The XD™ Dolly uses the same Aluminum Telescoping Axle as the Speed® Dolly and yes they are rated to 4,000 lbs as well. If you want a larger Dolly that will haul 4,000 lbs. day in and day out then the XD™ Dolly is for you.
