Educators participated in sessions such as AI Foundations, Hands-On AI Workshops, Immersive Learning Design, and AI-Enhanced Leadership and Operations. Highlights included gamified workshops on data privacy, classroom applications of AI, ethical considerations, and the role of humanities in the AI age.
Following the success of its 2024 debut that drew more than 250 participants, this year’ s summit attracted an even larger audience eager to reimagine learning in the era of artificial intelligence.
LOCAL GRADUATES HONORED WITH PASSAVANT MEMORIAL HOMES FOUNDATION COMMUNITY SERVICE SCHOLARSHIPS
Passavant Memorial Homes Foundation( PMHF) awarded its 2025 Community Service Scholarships to two outstanding high school graduates: Nandana Menon of South Fayette High School, and William Lemmon of Burgettstown Area Middle / High School.
The annual $ 10,000 scholarship honors the memory of Jamie Ellenberger, an individual served by Passavant Memorial Homes Family of Services( PMHFOS), and celebrates students who embody the spirit of community service.
Menon was recognized for her innovative work developing“ Spark,” an app that supports children with autism and their families, as well as for her leadership in creating a sensorymodified program at the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium. She also advocated for the Blue Envelope Program, which fosters safer interactions between law enforcement and individuals with autism.
Menon is now studying neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh.
Lemmon was honored for his extensive volunteerism with organizations including the ALS Chapter, the Live Like Lou Foundation and Club H. O. P. E.— his school’ s community service club. He also volunteered through his church, coached youth sports and served as a referee.
Lemmon is attending Saint Vincent College, majoring in health and physical education and special education.
This year, PMHF received 98 applications from students across 16 western Pennsylvania counties, reflecting the growing impact of this meaningful scholarship program.
SOUTH FAYETTE HOSTED 2ND ANNUAL FUTURE-FOCUSED LEARNING SUMMIT
South Fayette Township School District hosted its second annual Future- Focused Learning Summit on Oct. 13 at South Fayette High School. The event, themed“ Human Potential in the AI Era: Designing Tomorrow’ s Learning,” brought together educators, leaders, and innovators from across the Pittsburgh region for a day of exploration centered on artificial intelligence and emerging technologies in education.

On Saturday, Nov. 22, Keynotes will host a special evening featuring cocktails, dinner, live entertainment, raffle baskets and a lottery tree, all leading up to the Zambelli fireworks at 9:30 p. m.

The fundraiser supports Keynotes’ mission of awarding $ 16,000 in annual music scholarships to talented area students, with more than $ 452,000 awarded since 1970.
