District Earns Champion Designation
This spring, the school district was named a United Way Champion School District by the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania, recognizing the impact of students, faculty, and staff in supporting their community.
To earn the designation, districts complete volunteer projects and a fundraising effort benefiting United Way, along with a video showcasing their impact. Leading the effort was SHOUT, a student-led group focused on inclusivity and service. Members organized projects throughout the year, including a student-run fundraiser selling handmade Dubai chocolate cups.
“ This honor reflects the compassion and dedication of our students and staff who continually look for ways to make a positive difference,” said Dr. Chuck Herring, Director of Student & Community Engagement.“ We are proud of the leadership shown by SHOUT and the many ways our students give back.”
The award was presented at a March 2026 school board meeting, where the district also received a commemorative banner.
