The Bunny Hop
was “Hoppin”
at South Fayette
School District!
Students, staff, and volunteers decorated the school in
preparation of the annual Easter egg breakfast, parade,
and egg hunt on Saturday, March 24, at the South Fayette
Campus. Families and friends gathered for this fun
community event which has been a tradition since 2007.
“This event benefits our programming for students with
specials needs and is a wonderful way to plan life skill
activities throughout the school year for our students,”
says Leslie Willetts, Paraeducator. The students help plan
and facilitate the event. A delicious pancake breakfast was
prepared by our Cafeteria/Nutritional staff.
The Easter Bunny passed out treats and was available for
candid pictures. Face painting by Nancy Karafilis, coloring,
and spring tattoos were also available. After breakfast,
everyone gathered in front of the high school as the bunny
led the Easter Parade along with the Little Green Machine,
under the direction of Erin Carranza. The children were
provided saxophone whistles and kazoos to play as they
marched along.
The students in Kara Pappas’s class stuffed and prepared
thousands of eggs with candy for the egg hunt and gave
away over 300 prizes. The entire football field was covered
in colorful eggs as hundreds of children entered the field for
the traditional Easter egg hunt. All proceeds
from this annual community event benefit
South Fayette students with special needs.
We want to thank Pappas’s class, Willetts, the
cafeteria staff, custodial staff, our students,
and our community volunteers and families
for making this another successful event. Mark
your calendar next year and plan on hopping
with the bunny April 13, 2019. Thank you for
your support!
