SPONSORED CONTENT BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT SPONSORED CONTENT Darlene Kruth— Making a Difference in the Community through Northwood A s the wife of South Fayette Middle School’s STEAM coordinator, a volunteer with the South Fayette Foundation for Excellence (SFFE) and a Real Estate Sales Executive who has introduced countless families to South Fayette, Darlene Kruth is proud to continue giving back to the community by distributing scholarships to South Fayette graduates through the SFFE with funds allocated from a portion of her net commissions. Her second donation was made in July 2016 and this April, another distribution from those funds was designated to a qualified candidate. “I know what scholarships mean to students, and it has always been one of my passions. I initiated my first scholarship award over 30 years ago when I was just a junior at Duquesne University as I was inspired to create a positive legacy from the sudden death of a classmate. This was my way of saying that I want to give back to the community. There are only so many hours in the day, so I thought what better way for me to give back than through my life’s work.” The Lawrence H. Kruth Memorial Scholarship supports graduating seniors who want to pursue post secondary education in science, technology or engineering fields. The Scholarship is named in memory of Darlene’s father-in-law. Her husband Frank says that his dad was the best teacher he ever had and that inspired him to become a teacher. In addition to her and her husband, the selection committee consists of guidance counselors from the middle & high school, the high school technology education teacher & a member of the community who works in the engineering field. In April 2017 a $1,500 scholarship was awarded to Joseph Cavanaugh, a bright young man, who will be attending The University of Pittsburgh in the fall to study mechanical engineering. Darlene submits her donations to the SFFE annually, based on net commissions for transactions closed in the previous year. Those sales do not have to be in the South Fayette community, but can also be for properties and clients referred to Kruth through her South Fayette network. Like all scholarships, certain terms and conditions apply. In addition to her work with the SFFE, she sits on a board at Duquesne University that administers the distribution of funds for several individual scholarship programs. Darlene’s background as a CPA, coupled with her experience as a Real Estate Sales Executive, has shown her the value of a quality education and how it can help people navigate the challenges of today’s world. She is inspired by the lyrics to one of Whitney Houston’s most popular songs, “I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way.” She went above and beyond to help me buy my first house. She always had my best interests at heart. She made the process painless, which is not always the case when buying the first time. She works so incredibly hard for her clients, and I could not thank her enough. — Kara, March 2017 Darlene is committed to providing honest, timely, and professional service to her customers. The sale of our home was such a smooth process thanks to Darlene! — Melissa and Christopher, May 2017 “I have seen firsthand, over the years, the challenges many school districts face in their efforts to control budgets, minimize the annual raises in millage rates for real estate taxes, and continue to provide adequate services and opportunities to the student body,” she said. As a full-service Real Estate Sales Executive, Darlene enjoys helping her clients just as much as she helps students. She’s an accredited staging professional, and includes staging services for all of her listings at no additional charge to her clients. She’s also a Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES), who is adept at guiding mature adults looking to downsize to more manageable homes or transition into assisted living facilities. “These are people who haven’t bought or sold a home in as long as 40 years and don’t know where to start,” Darlene said. “An SRES has a whole different toolbox of resources to help seniors begin that process and complete it successfully.” For more information on listing or buying in South Fayette Township through Darlene Kruth, contact her at 412.831.0100 x3013 (office), 412.874.0415 (cell), or email her directly at [email protected].
