SOUTH FAYETTE TOWNSHIP IS HIRING SEASONAL POSITIONS FOR PUBLIC WORKS
• Seasonal Maintenance Employees ( age 18 and older )
• 40 hours per week
• Approx . April through October / into fall season
• $ 18 per hour
• Summer Help ( Minimum age 16 ; college and high school students encouraged to apply )

Duties may include , but are not limited to , the following :
• Maintain , repair and construct park facilities , grounds and trails .
• Assist with landscaping , horticultural and forestry projects .
• Assist with noxious weed management .
• Maintain and repair landscaped areas , including turf , trees , shrubs and irrigation .
• Operate mowers and other mid-sized motorized equipment ( seasonal maintenance employees only ).
• Operate hand tools and powered tools .
• Prepare and maintain sports fields for practice and game play , including dragging , harrowing , and watering playing surfaces , and marking fields .
• Identify and eliminate safety hazards .
• Assist with setup and operation of special events .
• Communicate openly and constructively with supervisor and township employees to enable efficient decision-making and positive morale .
• Maintain equipment in clean and safe condition ; operate equipment safely at all times .
• Promote safe conditions in all park facilities .
• Provide assistance and guidance to public park users as needed .
• Perform other duties as assigned .
Skills and abilities required :
• Safely operate powered equipment and hand tools .
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions .
• Work independently , and exercise initiative and good judgment .
• Perform physical labor , lift heavy objects , and traverse rough terrain on job sites .
• Establish and maintain effective , cooperative and respectful working relationships with all contacts

PAP TO HOST BENEFIT LUNCHEON
The Pittsburgh Alumnae Panhellenic ( PAP ), a chapter of the National Panhellenic Conference comprised of 26 women ’ s fraternal organizations , will be hosting a scholarship benefit luncheon on Saturday , April 13 , at South Hills Country Club ( 4305 Brownsville Road , Whitehall ). Proceeds from the luncheon benefit collegiate women pursuing an undergraduate degree who either live in the greater Pittsburgh area or attend a local university served by the alumnae chapters .
This year ’ s event , titled Growing Strong Women , will feature a welcome by KDKA- TV anchor Kym Gable and a fashion show . A gift basket auction and a cash bar will be available .
The event is open to all regardless of sorority affiliation . Vendor donations from local businesses seeking to reach the group are appreciated .

THREE RIVERS QUILT SHOW COMING THIS APRIL
The geese will be flying all over Southwestern PA ! No , it is not migration time for Canada geese — but the deadline is approaching for entries into the annual Three Rivers Quilt show .
“ Flying Geese ” is the theme for the 2024 Quilt Show hosted by Three Rivers Quilters . The show will be at the Hollywood Casino at The Meadows from April 11-13 . In addition to the theme category , there are 11 or more additional categories .
The juried and judged show features more than 120 quilts , cash prizes , vendors , demonstrations , a quilter ’ s rummage sale and raffles .
Flying Geese quilt blocks are rectangular-shaped and useful in many quilting designs , or even entire quilts can be made up of these handy little rectangles . They are always twice as wide as they are high and made up of a central triangle with smaller triangles on either side .
