Achievements come in all shapes and sizes . And for that matter , so do achievers . At South Fayette , we are fortunate to continuously share in the successes and achievements of our faculty , staff , and students of all ages . As I reflect on the collective efforts of our campus community and the families of our Lion learners , it is evident that our commitment to excellence in education has yielded significant results .
In this magazine issue , you will read about absolutely incredible teachers like Dr . Felix Yerace who has been recognized nationally for his work . You ’ ll see students in grades 6 and 12 who stood out among their peers across Western PA and Northern WV . There ’ s an article about an amazing grant received by our district that will impact our students at every grade level . Prior to the winter break , we witnessed incredible achievement in the form of generosity to our neighboring communities . And , the accomplishments of our student-athletes have been abundant .
Of course , we remain a district that is future-focused , student-centered , and innovation-driven . We have renewed our commitment to sustainability with the addition of the Smartflower solar device now located behind the high school and being used to power the Freight Farm . We ’ re also working toward growing our campus to better suit the needs of our learners and adding new state-of-the art technology and resources that will keep us at the forefront of academic excellence – just as our learners and their families deserve . In mid-January , we had the pleasure and privilege of welcoming more than 500 education professionals to our campus for the annual Three Rivers Educational Technology Conference ( TRETC ) sponsored by the Pittsburgh Technology Council . While these educators were here to attend workshops , participate in discussions , and interact with vendors , they could not help but be awed and inspired by our facilities and the

evidence of innovation that was all around them . I am continuously humbled to be the superintendent of this phenomenal school district that sets a standard that so many schools across our state and nation seek to emulate .

Superintendent of Schools welcomed Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis and several other state dignitaries to campus to discuss student mental health . Our district was again touted as a model for others to follow , and we were given the opportunity to review our intended next steps with the funds being made available by the state .
To become the district setting standards , we have been fortunate to have dedicated and talented educators , engaged learners , supportive parents , and a welcoming community . It is this incredible combination that allows us to create this environment that fosters learning , growth , and success . I extend my gratitude to each of you for the role you have had in the learning and achievement that occurs on our campus every day . I encourage you to be as involved as you possibly can , even by simply following the district on social media . District families are also now receiving a weekly email that includes updates from each individual school and athletics , as well as district-wide news .
As we move forward , I am confident that , with the continued commitment and contribution of our community , our district will build upon our achievements and reach even greater heights .
