South Fayette Glow Run Promises
FUN for a Good Cause
F
or the past five years, the South Fayette Glow Run
organizers have been hosting a family-friendly
event to raise money for Four Diamonds, a nonprofit
dedicated to helping in the fight against childhood cancer.
This year, the 5K/1-mile race takes place on June 1 at
the South Fayette School District stadium. The event
opens at 6 p.m. with races starting at 8 p.m., and all event
participants are decked out in glowing necklaces and
bracelets, creating a one-of-a-kind running experience.
Last year, more than 900 runners and hundreds of
spectators were able to raise over $25,000 for Four
Diamonds.
In addition to the races themselves, the event has plenty
of activities for non-runners as well. There will be vendors,
a Chinese auction, food from Two Brothers Bar-B-Q, Kona
Ice, and activities for participants of all ages.
For more information on the 2019 Glow Run
and to register as a runner, go to the website at
sfglowrun.weebly.com. Race packages start at $25.
Families with runners aged 10 and under are encouraged
to sign up for the 8 p.m. 1-Mile Fun Run. The 1-Mile
Competitive Run starts at 8:30 p.m., and the 5K starts at
9 p.m.
