Students Present at Stanford University
I
n May 2019, several students participated in the
first national running of Project Invent, which aims
to empower students to design for social good by
completing a year-long intensive design project. South
Fayette was one of 20 schools nationwide invited to
participate. The team of Suraj Bokil, Pranav Dantu,
Alisa Gealey, Prateek Jukalkar, Shreyas Raikhelkar,
Swathi Senthil, and Parv Shrivastava, advised by
High School English teacher, STEAM Club and TSA
Advisor James Hausman, presented their invention,
SMARThex, before a panel of Silicon Valley venture
capitalists at Demo Day at Stanford University’s newest
building, Denning House, on Saturday, May 19, 2019.
SMARThex is an intelligent pill dispenser that reminds
patients via their phones to take their medicine so
they remain adherent. Project Invent also provided
opportunities for the students to receive private tours
of Apple, Facebook, and Stanford’s world-famous
d.school. South Fayette was again invited to participate
in Project Invent foe 2019-2020.
