WHAT’ S NEWS IN SOUTH FAYETTE
SOUTH FAYETTE LIBRARY TO REOPEN IN MID- SEPTEMBER
South Fayette Township Library, 515 Millers Run Road, will remain closed until mid-September to be refurbished and reconfigured in an effort to make the facility more comfortable, clean and user-friendly.
The library had been closed in order to repair flooring that was damaged when a drain overflowed due to heavy rains on July 22. The closure was extended to make further improvements.“ What started as a little repair project has turned into an amazing opportunity to renovate the library,” Director Cheryl Napsha said.
The library will feature new flooring, expanded seating and updated spaces for children, teens and adults, and the in-house materials will focus on new releases and popular materials.
During the closure, patrons are invited to use the nearby Bridgeville Public Library, 505 McMillen Street, where South Fayette Library staff members are working.
Many South Fayette Library programs will be held at the Bridgeville Library, and South Fayette patrons are welcome to participate in Bridgeville Library programs.
Please visit www. southfayettelibrary. org for updated program information or call 412.221.3737.
Materials may not be returned to the South Fayette Library while it is closed. Instead, please return them to the Bridgeville Library or to any library in the Allegheny County system. If you are unable to visit another library, your fines will be waived when you return late materials to the South Fayette Library after it reopens.
Library materials ordered for pickup at South Fayette will be available at Bridgeville instead.
Napsha is director of both the South Fayette and Bridgeville libraries, under an agreement between the two communities’ library boards.

HEALTH DEPARTMENT UNVEILS NEW PLACARDS
The Allegheny County Health Department( ACHD) has unveiled new placards, which will be on display in food establishments in the county. The new design features a QR code that provides a quick link that will allow consumers to use their personal digital device to view inspection reports right at the front door.
The Inspected & Permitted placard indicates that a food establishment has passed the mandatory inspection by the health department’ s Food Safety Program and is permitted to operate. The Consumer Alert placard serves as a notification to the public that conditions identified at the time of inspection may pose a health risk to the customer.
The Closed placards are posted for one of three reasons:
• Conditions identified at the time of inspection pose a serious health risk to the customer.
• A facility is operating without a valid health permit.
• Food safety conditions remain uncorrected after opportunity for a hearing, or the maximum number of days allowed to operate with a consumer alert has been reached, which is 10 days.
“ At the Allegheny County Health Department, we take our responsibility to ensure safe eating establishments very seriously,” said Director Dr. Karen Hacker.“ The updated placards will provide county residents with a clear and easy-to-read status of the facilities they’ re considering when making dining choices, while also providing easy access to the reports behind each status. It is our hope that people will make healthy choices and live well!” n
