TIM ROGERS , TOWNSHIP MANAGER RETIRING AFTER 30 YEARS
After 30 years of service , Township Manager Tim Rogers is retiring as of December 31 , 2022 . A lifelong resident of Shaler Township , Tim served as Commissioner of the Fourth Ward from 1978 to 1982 . He graduated from Duquesne University School of Law in 1991 and was admitted to the Bar the same year . In 1992 , he was named Township Manager and has served in that position for 30 years .
During his tenure , he has accomplished many things for the Township that have resulted in cost saving measures with improved service . He was instrumental in the formation of Newcom , one of six regional dispatch centers in Allegheny County . Newcom was merged with Allegheny County 911 center in 1998 and Newcom was one of the only centers that Allegheny County assumed the debt service for the equipment . In 2011 , he was the impetus behind the formation of the Hampton Shaler Water Authority which merged the Shaler Township water operations with Hampton Township resulting in significant cost savings to the Township due to an expanded service footprint . Over the past several years he has been a driving force behind the regionalization of municipal sanitary sewer main trunk lines to the Allegheny County Sanitary Authority ( ALCOSAN ). This project will ensure that main sanitary sewer lines are maintained by ALCOSAN and will no longer be a burden to local municipalities . Mr . Rogers is also proud of the fact that Shaler Township has no debt which is a rarity for local municipalities . The Township ’ s final debt payment for water plant and street improvements was made in 2017 .
