Junior Achievement HELPING TO PREPARE OUR YOUTH FOR THE FUTURE
As the economy and world have shifted , so have the skills and experiences necessary to build a solid foundation . Only 11 percent of business leaders strongly agree that graduates have the skills and competencies to be successful .
So how do we ensure that students are ready for the realities they will face after they leave the classroom , equipping them to be successful ?
Junior Achievement ( JA ) is the world ’ s largest organization dedicated to preparing students in grades K-12 for the real world and has served the western Pennsylvania region for over 80 years . Through relevant , experiential , hands-on educational programs led by a passionate collective of volunteer mentors , young people connect classroom lessons to real-life applications .
Students make informed decisions about their education , career and financial choices through JA ’ s accredited curricula , tools and experiences .
If students are not involved in JA , they may be at a deficit . Research shows that JA alumni are more likely to have a college
degree , feel confident managing money , have career success , and have started a business as an adult .
JA ’ s programs and events include a wide range of fun activities and initiatives . There is something for everyone and every interest . Starting your student ( s ) in JA at a young age will help them to learn lessons that are not necessarily taught in school .
JA Inspire™ Virtual Career Fair : This dynamic career development experience gives middle and high school students access to local employers , postsecondary education opportunities , and interactive career activities . School registration closes on Dec . 1 , 2022 .
Intern to VP ®: Led by Brand and Leadership Development expert BeNeca Griffin , this program finds and educates the next generation of business leaders . Fifty select high school applicants will receive a full scholarship to participate in the program , giving them a 10-year head start in life . Applications will run from Oct . 17 - Dec . 1 , 2022 .
Empower Her Summit : An interactive and impactful leadership and life development workshop that connects high school-age girls with a village of female leaders in the area to discover their passions , potential and power . Coming March 2023 .
Innovation Academy : Middle school student teams work with guest entrepreneurs to build their own company and pitch their ideas . Coming June 2023 .
JA BizTown ®: This fun , innovative and exciting program brings learning to life for 4th-6th grade students , connecting the dots between what they learn in school and how it ’ s applied in the real world . Year-round .
