Shaler Area celebrates 50th Anniversary Year
Shaler Area celebrated its 50th anniversary during the annual Homecoming celebration on Saturday , Sept . 25 .
This year ’ s Homecoming theme was “ SA Rewind ,” which was featured in the class floats and school banners in the parade . Students were recognized for their hard work during halftime when the banner and float winners were announced .
Representing the senior class is Becca Beckas , who was crowned Homecoming queen .
The parade , picnic and football game also featured several groups including alumni from each decade , alumni band and auxiliary members who marched in the parade and “ filled the field ” during pregame festivities , alumni cheerleaders who marched in the parade and cheered along with current Shaler Area cheerleaders during the first quarter of the game , and alumni football players who were recognized in a special on-field seating section .
A historical display of memorabilia from throughout the school district ’ s 50 years was also part of the picnic ’ s activities before the game .
