A Taste of Shaler Area
The third annual “ A Taste of Shaler Area ” event was held on Saturday , March 24 , at Shaler Area Middle School and all proceeds benefited the Shaler Area Education Foundation . The foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the educational needs and curricular advancement of Shaler Area students , by raising funds that can be used to purchase additional resources to increase the educational opportunities for all students in the district . “ A Taste of Shaler Area ” is one of two main fundraising events for the Shaler Area Education Foundation .
The event featured food from local restaurants , music from the Act 80 Band , a band that includes current and former Shaler Area teachers and a variety of silent auction items , including student artwork and two university scholarships – one for Duquesne University and one for La Roche College . Additionally , 30 Shaler Area High School students shared their vocal and instrumental talents in three different sets and student artists from the high school created art non-stop throughout the event .
