The Shaler Township Memorial Day recognition ceremony and parade was held at the Mt. Royal Cemetery on Monday, May 30, 2016. This event is sponsored by the American Legion Post 782 and the Mt. Royal VFW 9199 to remember the people that have died while serving the country’ s armed forces. Members of these organizations also place American Flags on all Veteran’ s gravesites and local Girl Scout troops place rose pedals in remembrance of those that have served this great country. A 21-gun salute is also performed to show respect for those that have served.

Senator Randy Vulakovich is hosting several Seniors for Safe Driving courses in 2016. This program is available for drivers 55 years of age and older. The benefits of taking the course are becoming a safer driver and receiving a minimum of 5 % discount on your auto insurance. No exam will be given and the course is classroom instruction only.
