Meet Dr . Lindsay Turner . She entered urogynecology because she wanted to be able to improve patients ’ quality of life .

“ When we can help a woman get back to her activities , play with her children or grandchildren , leave the house without worrying where the next bathroom is , we ’ re really making an impact ,” she said . “ I also love that this field allows me to interact with women of all generations - from teenagers to women over 100 .”
Urogynecology is a fairly new specialty . But in the 20 years that it has been around , it has grown and become more widely recognized . But not recognized enough for Dr . Turner .
“ We need to do more work toward making women aware that there are treatments for this ,” Dr . Turner said . “ I joke that I want to put up billboards that say you don ’ t have to suffer with this . Treatments are available .”
