KEEP PENNSYLVANIA BEAUTIFUL ’ S PICK UP PENNSYLVANIA CLEANUP
Participate and Make a Difference in Your Community
Everyone wants to live , work and play in a clean and beautiful community and it ’ s up to all of us to make that possible . Whether you have vacant lots plagued with debris , natural areas that have been dumped on or littered streets and sidewalks , any neighborhood can be lifted up by positive community action .
Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful ’ s Pick Up Pennsylvania program can provide the tools and resources to help get you started . Join thousands of fellow Pennsylvanians and participate in litter and illegal dump cleanups ; beautification projects , such as tree and flower plantings ; recycling collections and public education programs .
Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful partners with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection , PennDOT and national sponsors to provide free trash bags , gloves , and safety vests to registered participants , as supplies last .

JUMP-START YOUR GARDEN AT THE SHALER PLANT SALE
Time to trade your winter gloves for your gardening gloves , and spruce up your garden with the Shaler Garden Club ’ s 68th annual plant sale on Saturday , May 7 , from 9 a . m . to noon . The sale is held at the Kiwanis Park on Wetzel Road in Glenshaw .
Hardy perennials from members ’ gardens will be offered at bargain prices , along with herbs , vegetables , houseplants , potted arrangements and bulbs . A fabulous basket auction will add to the festivities . Visit whether rain or shine . Proceeds benefit community projects and philanthropic donations of the Shaler Garden Club .

NORTH PITTSBURGH QUILTERS GUILD TO HOST SPRING QUILT SHOW
The North Pittsburgh Quilters Guild presents its spring quilt show , “ Flowers of
Hope ,” April 22-24 at the Ross Community Center , located at 1000 Ross Municipal Drive , 15237 . The hours are 10 a . m . to 5 p . m . on Friday and Saturday , and 12 to 4 p . m . on Sunday . Admission is $ 10 ; there is free parking .
A full-bed-size raffle quilt with “ flower chain ” design will be displayed and tickets are $ 1 each . Twelve specialty vendors , a certified quilt appraiser , raffle baskets loaded with quilters ’ items and a new Treasure Chest room ( full of fabrics and notions ) will be on-site . North Pittsburgh Quilters Guild is a nonprofit whose main goal is to further the quilting skills and knowledge of its members . The guild sponsors workshops from nationally known quilters / teachers during meetings , which are held the first Tuesday of the month .
It also coordinates community service projects including “ Quilts of Valor ,” baby blankets for a women ’ s shelter , table runners for food baskets distributed by the food bank , port pillows , “ Beads of Courage ” bags for child cancer patients , “ Satchels of Caring ” bags for other cancer patients and Santa bags for Children ’ s Hospital .
