TECHNOLOGY UPDATE FROM YOUR SHALER NORTH HILLS LIBRARY
Thank you for your constant support , kindness and business . We are very grateful to all of you . SNHL is a member of the eiNetwork — the technology infrastructure of the county-wide library system . The eiNetwork receives county funding on behalf of all libraries to provide a consistent high quality technology experience while saving significant tax dollars and allowing local library staff to focus on delivering service , not security updates or the myriad of tech troubleshooting . Annually , the eiNetwork expends close to $ 84,000 in standard technology services on behalf of SNHL . Your dollars have made a significant investment in connecting our community to high-speed internet , software , county-wide library materials and wireless for 24 years . In 2022 , eiNetwork will upgrade your Library to a higher speed fiber network that interconnects Allegheny County libraries over some of the fastest public library connections in the country . The new 10 Gigabit ( 10 Gig ) fiber network will deliver next generation broadband to Allegheny County public libraries by providing a tenfold increase over the current 1 Gigabit connections . The 10 Gigabit fiber network seeks to improve the patron internet experience offered through devices in your Library with capacity for future bandwidth-hungry technologies like 4K-8K video , AI , virtual reality , and the Internet of Things ; and new services such as eduroam , a service that enables students and faculty of participating institutions to connect over the library ’ s wireless network . Walk Talk Walk : A global program , coming to Shaler Saturdays , March 5 through April 30 at 8:00 a . m .
Run Talk Run was created in the UK by Jess Robson for the purpose of creating a safe community in which people can get a little exercise and talk about “ how things are going .” It began in 2017 and groups are now meeting all around the world . In Shaler , we will start a newer variation of the program , Walk Talk Walk , for folks age 16 and older . Life can be stressful . We all need

a place where we can feel safe to share ( or not share ; it is totally fine to stay quiet and just enjoy the exercise ). We will meet weekly on Saturdays in the parking lot of the Library at 8:00 a . m . The walk is between 1-1 / 2 to 2 miles . • For at-home caregivers : If you are caring for an older adult at home , the Library has many resources to borrow or “ try before you buy .” Aquapaint , Scrabble , checkers / chess , match games , brain games , games for indoors , and a caregiver ’ s backpack containing many resources for those caring for older adults with cognitive or physical issues .
• At your service : Request assistance with printing , faxing , scanning , or your computer questions .
• Great deals every day : Buy gently used books , DVDs and CDs at bargain prices .

• Tax forms ! We have the most common state and federal forms / booklets . They are available all the time during tax season , outside near the back entrance to the Library . If you need a more specific form , we can help print them for you .
