VFW POST 9199 75TH ANNIVERSARY May 30 , 2022 Doors open at noon

In celebration of its 75th Anniversary , VFW Post 9199 will host a public event to commemorate this milestone . VFW Post 9199 was established on April 14 , 1947 , and in April of 1997 , a time capsule was filled and placed in the wall for preservation . On May 30 , 2022 , the community is invited to join for food , fun , laughter and memory making that will last a lifetime . The 25-year-old time capsule will be opened and a new one will be filled . Doors open at noon , picnic lunch served at 1:00 PM , and a shuttle service from Shaler area High School from 12:30 PM until 5:00 PM will be provided . No RSVP required . The Shaler Area Rotary club is sponsoring a pajamas , socks , and underwear drive for children of all ages from infants to teenagers to support the wonderful nonprofit ‘ Beverley ’ s Birthdays ’. Beverley ’ s Birthdays mission is to make sure that all children have a Birthday and many of their beneficiaries are children in foster

care or homeless shelters . There will be collection boxes at local Rotary business ’ s including Cop Out Pierogies in Etna , Cable Orthodontics , Peace Dental , Blue Goose Saloon , and David Florijan and CPA which are all located on Mount Royal Boulevard . Donations can be dropped off at one of these locations and your donations are welcome and appreciated . Shaler Area Rotary would also like to welcome our newest members , Jaclyn Boggs , Casey Dunaway , and Matthew Caiazza and we thank them for their community service . PERSONAL CARE COLLECTION North Hills Community Outreach ( NHCO ) February 14 - April 18

NHCO is collecting personal care items to give to food pantry clients . SNAP ( Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program ) benefits cannot be used to purchase personal care items . These items are a necessity and can be an expense that many low-income families cannot afford . NHCO collects these items and gives them to families and individuals who use our food pantries .

Suggested donated Items include :

• Chapstick

• Dental Floss

• Shaving Cream

• Toothpaste

• Toothbrushes

• Shampoo

• Conditioner

• Wash Cloth or Loofa

• Deodorant

• Body Lotion

• Bar of Soap ( unscented )

Donations can be dropped off at any of our offices Monday – Friday , 9am – 4pm .

Our Allison Park location also accepts donations the first Saturday of every month between 9am-noon .
