EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT Jonathan Ulery of Boy Scout Troop #560 delivered a wooden flag box to the Shaler Township Municipal Building in November. Jonathan received permission from the Township Manager, Tim Rogers to build a flag box for the Township as his Eagle Scout project in the Spring of 2019. Stop by the Township Building to drop off your used flags for proper disposal. Congratulations and thank you to Jonathan for his dedication on this project. Jonathan Ulery, Tim Rogers VOLUNTEER WITH THE SHALER TOWNSHIP FIRE POLICE The Special Fire Police Act was originally enacted June 1941 in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania under Title 35. The Shaler Township Fire Police Association was formed and chartered May of 1981. Since then its members have continually served Shaler Township in emergencies, and special events. Shaler Township is now accepting applications for membership in the Fire Police Association. Fire Police Officers are members of one of our six volunteer fire departments within the Township. Fire Police Officers work under the direction, and in conjunction with the Shaler Township Police Department. Fire Police Officers are empowered by Shaler Township to support our first responders in various emergency situations. When mutual aid is requested Shaler Township Fire Police respond into to our neighboring communities to provide additional support. In addition to emergency operations Fire Police Officers provide traffic and crowd control at parades and other special events within Shaler Township. New member training consists of emergency vehicle operations course, basic fire police, advanced fire police, and HAZ-MAT awareness training. Members are provided the required traffic control clothing, and safety equipment. Both men and women are encouraged to apply for membership.
