Shaler Area Middle School students
presented one of the school’s largest
productions in recent years when the
curtain rose on the popular musical
“Grease.”
“Grease,” performed on Feb. 15 and
16 at the middle school, follows a group
of students from the fictional Rydell
High School as they navigate storylines
involving peer pressure, values and love. It
follows the challenges of new girl Sandy,
played by eighth-grader Lauren Lorenz,
trying to fit in at a new school. Her
situation is complicated when she learns
that her summer crush, Danny, played by
seventh-grader Joshua Clark, attends the
same school.
The middle school’s musical featured a
cast of more than 60 students, including
popular characters like the T-Birds—
Kenickie (Alex Eastly), Doody (Logan
DeLuca), Roger (Thomas Bartosh) and
Sonny (Luka DePasquale), and the Pink
Ladies led by Rizzo (Sami Rodibaugh),
Frenchy (Rachel Scierka), Marty (Norah
Strout), and Jan (Ava Bardakos).
The full-length musical included all of
the audience favorites, including “Greased
Lightnin’,” “Beauty School Dropout” and
“We Go Together.”
